Gold Medal Winning Diver Tom Daley Has Reversed His Decision To Retire Announcing His Intention To Compete At A Fifth Olympic Games In Paris 2024

Tom Daley Back for More Despite Retirement Plan

Gold medal-winning diver Tom Daley has reversed his decision to retire, announcing his intention to compete at a fifth Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

The decision came after a chance trip to a sports museum with his five-year-old son, Robbie. The sight of Olympic medals and memorabilia sparked a new determination in Daley, who had previously announced his retirement after the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Speaking to reporters, Daley said, "It was just a moment where I realized I wasn't done yet. I love diving, and I still have a lot to give. I want to show my son what I can do."

Daley's return to the Olympic stage will make him the first British diver to compete at five Games. The 28-year-old has already won two Olympic medals, including a gold in the 10m platform synchronised event at Tokyo 2020.

Daley will begin his preparations for Paris 2024 with the British National Diving Championships in May. He will need to finish in the top two in the 10m synchronised event to qualify for the British team.
